Richard Waite - Howden Insurance Brokers Limited

Managing Director, Credit and Political Risks
Richard works within Howden’s Credit and Political Risks division where he heads the structured finance business which is focused on providing bespoke credit risk and capital solutions for our clients. Richard’s team has a strong focused on providing multi-product solutions for our client’s emerging/developing markets risks and in particular on the African continent, which is an enabler/multiplier to enable lender’s financing to flow where it’s really needed. Richard joined Howden in December, 2020 following a successful 20 year banking career across 4 leading international financial institutions. Richard’s previous employer was Bank ABC, where he was European Head of Financial Institutions and built out their global debt and distribution team, which included insurance services. Prior to Richard’s 5 year stint at Bank ABC he spent 5 years as a Director within HSBC Bank’s Project and Export Finance Team, responsible for structuring and syndicating large value commercial and ECA term loans, mainly in the Emerging Market FI and Sovereign space. Prior to joining HSBC, Richard spent 3.5 years and 6.5 years at OCBC Bank and WestLB respectively, where he worked within their emerging market loan trading divisions; originating, structuring and distributing debt facilities in the primary and secondary markets.
