Lisa Rümelin is an accomplished financier with 26 years of emerging markets experience. She has over 20 years of experience supporting capital raising in Africa She has developed deep technical expertise in all aspects of financing through a career spanning key financial hubs such as London, Dubai, Singapore, and Johannesburg. Known for her innovative problem-solving skills, Mrs. Rümelin is highly regarded for cultivating talent, fostering strong client relationships, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders. Recognised for her expertise in private credit and deep knowledge of African emerging markets finance, Lisa Rümelin is committed to fostering inclusive growth and development, leveraging her deep industry knowledge and leadership experience to drive impactful outcomes. She is actively engaged in supporting responsible financing and the achievement and measurement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Currently, Mrs. Rümelin serves as the Founder and Managing Partner at Betula Partners Limited in London, a role she has held since February 2020. Betula Partners is an independent FCA regulated financial services firm focused on delivering impactful funding solutions to businesses and investors in Africa. Prior to this, she was a Senior Originator at Gemcorp Capital LLP in London from July 2018 to January 2020. At Gemcorp, Mrs. Rümelin focused primarily on Africa , structuring a diverse range of debt solutions, from short-term working capital to medium and long-term growth funding in senior and mezzanine formats. Lisa’s career includes 19 years at Standard Chartered Bank, where she held multiple senior leadership roles. These included Senior Banker & Managing Principal (Africa), leading leveraged finance operations in Johannesburg, and Managing Principal & Regional Head of Leveraged Finance for Africa & the Middle East. Earlier roles at Standard Chartered saw her as Managing Director & Regional Head of Leveraged Finance, Director of Leveraged Finance, and Head of Offshore Assets in Shipping Finance. Lisa also held roles in structured trade finance focused on Africa during her tenure. Lisa holds a post graduate Batchelor of Laws degree and a Batchelor of Arts from Rhodes University.
