Vice President - Finance
Mohamed Al Shehab has extensive experience in the investment banking and corporate finance industry. He spent more than 10 years in the field of corporate and investment banking, and worked on the execution of multiple capital market transaction, syndications, structuring and acquisitions. He led multiple teams in his career focusing on investments, portfolio management, financial performance and analysis, risk, treasury, ESG and insurance. Mohamed joined Bapco Energies as Portfolio and Investor Relation Manager – Investments in 2020, where he was responsible for the financing activities and investments in portfolio companies. Mohamed currently holds the role of Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance, Investments & Treasury at Bapco Energies, where he is responsible for securing funding and structuring financing for capital investment opportunities. Mohamed’s role also includes setting and executing the financing strategy for the Group, as well as evaluating investment opportunities and executing equity related transaction and leading Buy/Sell side M&A related activities, in line with the group’s strategy while maintains investor relations for Bapco Energies portfolio companies. Mohamed also leads the financial risk management function and ESG team, and is an integral part of the centralization of the Treasury and Insurance teams at Bapco Energies. Prior to joining Bapco Energies, Mohamed served as Vice President at Barclays Bank, in London, United Kingdom. His last role as Business Manager of International Corporate Banking in Barclays’ Corporate and Investment Banking enabled him to support his team in business development and the execution of debt and equity related transactions. He led the business management team responsible for financial performance and analysis, setting annual budgets, allocating capital deployment, managing integration projects, and reporting & monitoring business KPIs. Mohamed was also Assistant Vice President and a Business Analyst at Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank. His roles at the Bank included risk management, product origination, coverage of US and Dutch Portfolio clients. Within his various roles, he was heavily involved in developing the business strategy and projects for his team, while also specializing in product structuring throughout his time as a Business Analyst. Mohamed Al Shehab began his early career with several internships across the Kingdom of Bahrain, working at the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, Batelco, and the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company. He attended the M.Sc. degree in Managerial and Financial Economics and obtained the Certificate in Global Risk Management from HEC Paris. Mohamed earned a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, U.S.A, majoring in Finance and Operations and Information Management with a double minor in Economics and Philosophy. He also holds a Certificate in Advanced Credit Skills and passed CFA qualification Level 1, 2, and 3 examinations. Mohamed is also a recipient of the prestigious Crown Prince International Scholarship Programme in Bahrain, and is currently the Vice Chairman of Bapco Tazweed and Bapco Air Fueling, and hold Board memberships in Bapco Reinsurance Limited and Safa (Mumtalakat Company).
